Xi'an Jiaotong University
Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), abbreviated as "XJTU", is located in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. It is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China, jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. It is listed as a national "Double First-Class" university and was among the first to enter the national "211 Project" and "985 Project". The university's predecessor was Nanyang Public School, founded in Shanghai in 1896. It was renamed Jiaotong University in 1921. In 1956, the main body of Jiaotong University moved to Xi'an. In 2000, the State Council decided to merge Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Medical University, and Shaanxi University of Finance and Economics to form the new Xi'an Jiaotong University.
