South China University of Technology (SCUT), abbreviated as "SCUT", is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is listed in the national "Double First-Class", "985 Project", and "211 Project". The university has a long history, with its educational origins tracing back to the Guangdong Provincial First Class A Industrial School founded in 1918. It was officially established as South China Institute of Technology in 1952 during the nationwide reorganization of higher education institutions, and renamed South China University of Technology in 1988. The university covers an area of approximately 4.05 million square meters and has three campuses: Wushan, University Town, and Guangzhou International Campus. SCUT is known for its strength in engineering, combining science and engineering, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines including management, economics, liberal arts, law, and medicine.
