Zhejiang University of Media and Communications, abbreviated as "ZUMC", is a university jointly established by the National Radio and Television Administration and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. It has been selected for the National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program, the National Language Standardization Demonstration School, and the Zhejiang Province Applied Construction Pilot Demonstration School. The predecessor of the university was Zhejiang Radio and Television School established in 1978 and Zhejiang Radio and Television College established in 1984. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang Radio and Television College was upgraded to Zhejiang University of Media and Communications. In October 2011, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to grant master's degrees in Journalism and Communication.
