University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) was established in 1951, located in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and one of the first "211 Project" and "Double First-Class" construction universities. The university's predecessor was the Advanced Commercial Cadre School, renamed Beijing Foreign Trade College in 1954, and officially renamed University of International Business and Economics in 1984. In 2000, the former China Finance College merged with UIBE, becoming the new University of International Business and Economics, directly under the Ministry of Education. The university is known for its strengths in International Economics and Trade, Law (International Economic Law), Finance, Business Administration, and Foreign Languages (Business Foreign Languages), forming a multi-disciplinary university with a focus on economics, finance, and foreign languages.
