Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST), abbreviated as "NUST", is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. It is ranked among the national "Double First-Class" universities, "211 Project" universities, and "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction universities. The university was founded in 1953, with its predecessor being the Artillery Engineering Department of the People's Liberation Army Military Engineering Institute ("Harbin Institute of Technology"). It has gone through various development stages including Artillery Engineering Institute, East China Engineering Institute, and East China Institute of Technology, and was renamed Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 1993. The university currently has two campuses, Xiaolingwei and Jiangyin, covering a total area of 4,315 acres with a building area of 1.35 million square meters. The university has 20 professional schools, 16 postdoctoral research stations, 18 first-level doctoral degree programs, 32 first-level master's degree programs, and 19 master's professional degree categories, and has the authority to grant Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). The university currently has more than 30,000 students of various types, including more than 18,000 undergraduates and more than 12,000 graduate students.
