China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), abbreviated as "CUMT", is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is listed as a "Double First-Class" university, a "211 Project" university, and a "985 Project Innovation Platform" university. The university traces its origins to the Jiaozuo Road Mining School founded in 1909. After years of development, it moved to Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province in 1950 and was renamed China University of Mining and Technology in 1988. The university focuses on engineering, with mining engineering as its distinctive feature, covering multiple disciplines including science, engineering, liberal arts, law, economics, management, education, and arts.
