Programme Structure

Academic Reading and Writing 2
  • There has been a need to continually improve the English quality of our students and provide them constant support at their Diploma levels. The module is designed for students to work intensively on their reading and writing skills. This is a more intensive module that improves students reading and writing skills, as these are the keys to understanding their subjects and effectively engage in class activities. These classes will address a variety of key demands of writing and reading assignments on their courses, focusing on both academic and language skills and the ability to write. The module will be delivered in a blended-learning environment, where students will have the opportunity to experiment and learn via both online and face-to-face lessons.
Principles of Graphic and Media Design
  • Students will be introduced to design theories, creative processes and techniques involved in idea generation such as brainstorming and mind mapping. They will receive a broad overview of principle of design, design elements, and typography design. They will also experiment with art and type by manipulating or juxtaposing images and words to communicate messages effectively.
Television and Film Production
  • This module is designed to help students acquire the knowledge and basic skills in studio production. Students will learn the process of directing the production as it is being shot, providing guidance, leadership and direction on the overall concept, theme, content, characters, narrative and visual style.
Print Media Design
  • This module engages with the notion of publication, as a term to describe a broad field of activity spanning print and screen media. Through an introduction to different theories and principles of design, students will develop skills for spatial organisation and hierarchy of compositional elements and type using design strategies including grids, flow lines, hero elements, colour and contrast.
3D Animation and Effects
  • Extended studies combines a number of topics tailored to the digital society and advancement of digital technologies. Students will be introduced to emerging areas of digital media such as video, image and audio production, animation, digital content creation and management, special effects, web design and development, and application design.
Marketing Communications
  • The field of advertising and promotion continues to change the role of marketing communications in developing the company’s marketing strategy. Marketers must look beyond the traditional forms of media in order to achieve success. In order to communicate with consumers and customers, advertisers must utilise the myriad of media outlets — print, radio, cable, satellite TV and the Internet. The goal of a marketing communications module is to deliver a clear, consistent, and compelling message to the organisation’s target consumers. This module aims to introduce concepts, theories and perspectives that are widely considered in the marketing communications literature.
User Experience & Human-Centered Design
  • Technology is growing at a rapid pace. Users visit several websites every single day. The demand for UX Design skills has grown tremendously in recent years as organisations increasingly value user-centered design. Designers need to be aware of existing and upcoming trends and focus on the usability of websites, digital apps and services to attract consumers and keep them engaged. The goal of the User Experience and Human-centered Design module is to develop skills in user research and designing products that offer a pleasurable experience for its users. This module aims to introduce different frameworks and techniques for empathising with users to understand their needs and motivation, supported with research and solutions based on human-centered design.
User Interface & Interaction Design
  • Standing for user interface design, UI design refers to all the visual elements on a website, app, mobile device, piece of software, or even an appliance that a user interacts with. UX design is the process of designing products with the user in mind. Typically, UX and UI design must work seamlessly together to create great products with strong user experience, visually appealing user interfaces, and optimal functionality. The goal of the User Interface and Interaction Design module is to gain insight into theories and current research topics in user interface design. This module aims to organise information, explore and choose the right UI patterns, convey a clear identity, and create engaging user experiences.
Professional Practice (Portfolio Development)
  • Professional Practice will help students to build graphic design and media work into an impactful portfolio. Students will fine-tune acquired skills and focus their body of work towards specific job goals. They will develop a portfolio of work that best represents their creativity and skill in graphic design and new media. Students will also have the opportunity to re-address previous projects and assignments for inclusion in their portfolios.
