Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology | UM-SATU (University Malaya) is a 4-year, full-time, on-campus bachelor's programme delivered in English at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur — designed to develop graduates with a strong foundation in earth sciences, field geology, geophysics and geochemistry for careers in exploration, mining, engineering geology and natural resource management.
The curriculum spans introduction to the earth, geological structures and maps, mineralogy, sedimentology, petrology, structural geology, paleontology, geophysics, GIS applications in geosciences, mineral resources, geology of Malaysia, geology research project and industrial attachment — supported by applied geology field courses, laboratory analytical techniques, Student Holistic Empowerment (SHE) electives and program electives.
Graduates are equipped for careers as Geologist, Hydrogeologist, Engineering Geologist, Petroleum Geologist, Mining Geologist, Exploration Geologist, Geotechnical Engineer, Geophysicist, GIS Analyst, Groundwater Consultant and Earth Science Educator — or to pursue postgraduate study at University Malaya.
