Bachelor of Actuarial Science | UM-SATU (University Malaya) is a 4-year, full-time, on-campus bachelor's programme delivered in English at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur — designed to develop graduates with strong mathematical, statistical and financial foundations for careers as actuaries and risk professionals in insurance, pensions and finance.
The curriculum spans calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, financial mathematics, actuarial mathematics, risk theory, life insurance and takaful, portfolio theory, mathematics of financial derivatives, microeconomics, data science and structured programming — supported by ten elective course slots, Student Holistic Empowerment (SHE) electives and industrial training.
Graduates are equipped for careers as Actuary, Risk Analyst, Insurance Underwriter, Pension Consultant, Investment Analyst, Actuarial Consultant, Quantitative Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, Pricing Analyst and Reinsurance Analyst — or to pursue professional actuarial examinations and postgraduate study at University Malaya.
